SUMMER
'Summer' in the Snowy Mountains kicks in on 1 November with the opening of the walking, x-country biking and alpine rock climbing seasons and continues through Easter until late May. At lower altitudes summer activities remain on the calendar right through the winter, especially, rock climbing & abseiling on the sunbaked Jindabyne Crag or close by in Canberra.

WINTER
'Winter' starts in early June with the first heavy snow falls and continues through to the end of October with back country ski touring and snow shoe trips extending the season long past the resorts closing their ski lifts and trails. Unseasonable snow falls occur throughout the year so it is always wise to pack something warm, something wind & weatherproof & something cool!
