| Chris's
passion for the mountains is usually at its peak when
he's towing a sled with his mates and looking for a
fun place to set up base camp. It is this constant quest
for adventure that has motivated Chris to work in the
ski industry after his he first encountered the mountains
in the 1970's with the Canberra Bushwalking Club. During
that time he has embarked on the 'usual' yet wonderful
journey of teaching all ages and abilities in the major
ski disciplines; alpine, telemark, classic cross country,
skating, and snow craft complete with those 'oh so fantastic'
adventures into the Snowy Mountains to explore and ski
the wide range of terrain on offer, from the tours along
the Snowy River or catching the first winter turns on
the Snowy Mountain's 'steep's. At the age of 15 Chris
skied his first of six 'Kiandra to Kosciuszkos' and
continues to love ski touring and snow camping.
Chris has maintained his passion, skills
and qualifications constantly experimenting in teaching
styles with his colleagues to discover and develop the
most creative and effective ways of imparting and sharing
their passion for snow, new ideas frequently hatched
in the brainstorming post-lesson "debriefs"
at Brunos or Aldos at Perisher. A natural in the people
skills department, a day with Smarty covers most bases!
