| Zac is
a Level 2 APSI qualified cross country ski-instructor
and the K7 Adventures Koscisusko Ski School Director.
He first strapped on a pair of cross country skis in
1976 and then somehow managed to gasp his way around
the NSW 30 km Championships, finishing a distant last.
Undeterred he came back for more, eventually qualifying
as a cross country ski instructor in 1989. Zac was active
as an instructor and backcountry guide for the Defence
Force adventure training program for many years, exploring
every corner of the National Park in the process. He
is still a regular instructor for the Army and Navy
cross country ski and biathlon teams and in recognition
of his significant contribution, Zac was made a life
member of the Defence Force Cross Country Ski Association.
When not instructing at Perisher or Dinner Plain, Zac
spends his remaining time competing every year at the
World Masters Cross Country Ski championships as well
as undertaking his quest to become a Worldloppet master
by competing all major ski marathons around the globe.
Zac is also an accomplished high altitude mountaineer,
having been on 15 expeditions to the Himalaya (including
two to Mt Everest) and 12 to New Zealand. His ascents
include five summits above the magic 8000 metres in
altitude. Zac is also known to occasionally go over
to the “dark-side” when he alpine skis in
between Masters World Cup races.
