BackK7 Mountaineering School

The K7 Mountaineering School is made up of several disciplines involving winter scenarios of snow and ice.

SKI MOUNTAINEERING

For intermediate to advanced skiers, this tour will take you into the serious and steep terrain in the Snowy Mountains where you ski the chutes and snow climb out using basic snow climbing equipment: ice axes crampons, ropes and harness. Go with a fully experienced K7 Guide to the Leatherbarrel, Club Lake or Watson’s Crags.

No minimum numbers. Book a tour.

SNOW CLIMBING

A new and challenging adventure for snow lovers! Put on a harness and crampons, pick up an ice tool and rope up. Good introduction for aspiring mountaineers to learn the essentials of safety in a mountain environment; rope management skills, arrest, belaying, ascent and descent techniques. Close to Thredbo walk out on snow shoes and strap on the crampons at Signature Rocks.

ICE CLIMBING

A step onto the serious mountain terrain. Ice climbing in the Snowy Mountains is superb and limited to ‘best conditions’ determined by the weather and quality of the ice. Ice Climb at Blue Lake with a fully experienced local guide. Camp in the snow or overnight at Charlotte Pass or Guthega then climb to your heart’s content. Return on snow shoes or for competent skiers, ski back to base. This trip is for competent natural rock climbers, proficient in safe belay techniques, able to second and manage ropes.
