BackMountain Walks and Canberra Walks

Seven Days a Week!
Snow Mountains bushwalking is unique and varied from high country walks to the forested sub-alpine terrain with its abundance of wildlife, wildflowers and alpine huts. We can offer you a range of satisfying walks that inspire, uplift and exhilarate you. The walking season opens late October (you may need snow shoes in the alpine area) and extends right through to the end of May just before the first winter snows. Walking in the Australian alpine area is truly addictive with its cool temperatures and lofty altitudes with stunning views. K7 Adventures will take you to some very special places!

Easy walk to Mt Kosciuszko with a difference! Our guides take individuals, families and small groups on a scenic route to Mt Kosciuszko so you can appreciate the natural beauty of the mountains, their special environments and unique ecology. This ‘tread lightly’ tour is only available to small numbers of people. For regular walkers and bigger groups - join us for a picnic lunch on top of Australia with a difference. We will share with you a wealth of knowledge and experience in the mountains and personal attention on your special journey.

GLACIAL LAKES - 21.5 kms
This walk ‘across the tops’ of Australia visits the major glacial lakes - Lake Cootapatamba, Lake Albina, Club Lake and Blue Lake with spectacular views along and across the Great Dividing Range. A full day with plenty of opportunities for mountain gazing, photographs, snacks and lunch and time to dip your toes in the Snowy River. Relax afterwards at Charlotte Pass or Thredbo for a drink before returning to base. Starts Thredbo or Charlotte Pass.

RAMSHEAD PEAKS - 15 kms
Walk to the Kosciuszko Lookout then begin the extraordinary route across the Ramsheads Peaks passing through granite tors, narrow ridges, open saddles filled with wildflowers and past rocky gorges until you arrive at the promiment South Ramshead Peak. The final descent through copses of snow gums to Dead Horse Gap is memorable wrapping up a truly wonderful day.

EASY DAY
Ramshead Adventure Walk - Photography ToursRAMSHEADS ADVENTURE WALK - 10 kms
The Ramsheads adventure walk takes you to the Kosciuszko Lookout then ‘off route’ to visit some ancient rock formations, capture scenes of the steep western fall of the Great Dividing Range with the Victorian High Country lacing the horizon and across the top of the rocky watersheds before joining the Dead Horse Gap Track. Return to Thredbo or descend to Dead Horse Gap. Bring a picnic lunch. Continue to Thredbo via car or add another 5 ks and walk along the Thredbo Riverside Walk.

DEAD HORSE GAP - 10 kms
From the top of Thredbo at Eagle’s Nest we will guide you along the Dead Horse Gap track and show you micro-climates and environments that attract special plant communities and flowers. Enjoy the descent through the snow gums and open frost hollows as the views open towards the Pilot Wilderness. Return to Thredbo via the Riverside bush track or by car. For truly ambitious walkers - reverse the walk by starting at bottom of Thredbo Valley and walk along the Thredbo River or from Dead Horse Gap before you start the amazing ascent to the treeline and back to Eagle’s Nest. Walk down Merritt’s Nature Trail - add another 5 k and make this a FULL DAY.

PORCUPINE ROCKS - 7 kms
A beautiful & relaxing day amongst the wildflowers. The Porcupine Rocks walk starts just past Perisher Gap on the Kosciuszko Summit Road - winds through ancient snow gums and across a broad valley head before peeping through impressive rock tors that overlook the Thredbo Valley. Great photo opportunities, cool outlook for an alpine picnic and a bit of adventure as you explore the edge of the Crackenback Range before returning to base. Extend the walk to Perisher via the Rock Creek Valley for a pick up or walk back to Perisher Gap for a longer day.

BLUE LAKE - 10 kms
Definitely one of the classic mountain walks with a steep descent to the Snowy River. Cross on natural river stone steps before a steady climb towards Soil Conservation Creek. Another short climb and Blue Lake opens before you - a classic glacial cirque with dominant ice-sheered granite cliffs and a beautiful alpine lake. The wildflowers create a carpet for your picnic lunch before returning to the Snowy River to cool your feet. Climb out and walk along the boardwalk for a view of the main range and Snowy River Gorge.

Alpine Wildflower WalksHALF DAY
ALPINE WILDFLOWER WALK - 5 - 8 kms
Absolute ‘must do’ for nature lovers. This relaxing and uplifting outing takes you and your family to the flowers! Take your time, enjoy the flowers and their individual niches in nature, take photos, marvel and realise the unique beauty that is the biodiverse, Australian alpine flora. The evolution of flowering plants began over 400 million years ago when Australia was part of the super-continent, Gondwana. Then, as the continents drifted apart, the geographical isolation of Australia created the stunning botanical natural wonder of the world, that is the Kosciuszko alpine flora. Come with us on the Alpine Wildflower Walk into a natural floriade!

MT STILWELL - 4 kms
An easy half day walk from Charlotte Pass turning circle along Kangaroo Ridge to Mt Stilwell Ridge. Enjoy the displays of wildflowers and 360 degrees views as you take in the depth and breadth of the Main Range. Sit in the silent Stilwell wonderland for a picnic and return to Charlotte Pass for evening refreshments or return to Jindabyne.
