Summit South Ramshead Snowshoeing Adventure: Half-Day

The Winter Ascent of South Ramshead is highly favored by locals, particularly during storm cycles due to its usual shelter from strong westerly winds. As you journey upwards, you'll navigate through a frosty eucalypt forest, observing the trees become increasingly twisted and stunted with each metre ascended. As you near the summit, the snowgums give way to a rugged terrain of rock and ice, unveiling sweeping vistas of the main range.

GRADE 2: WANDERER

  • 1. Meet your guide at the Dead Horse Gap Carpark, a five-minute drive from Thredbo. If conditions are particularly snowy carpooling is often a good option and can be arranged via email or telephone.

Undertake a quick gear check and receive your Snowshoes and poles.

    3. Begin with a warm welcome and introduction to the local Indigenous culture, acknowledging the country you're in.

    4. Begin your ascent through the snow-filled eucalypt forest, observing the landscape's gradual transformation as you climb higher. Pause mid-morning for a snack and a hot drink amidst the increasingly gnarled trees.
