Andrew Lock | Mountaineering Guide
Lead Expedition Guide | High-Altitude Mountaineer
Andrew Lock is one of Australia's most accomplished mountaineers and the only person in the British Commonwealth to have climbed all fourteen of the world's 8000-metre peaks. With over 100 expeditions led across every continent, he brings unparalleled high-altitude expertise and leadership to remote mountain environments.
Andrew began guiding in 1990, leading trekking groups to K2 Base Camp and mountaineering expeditions throughout Nepal, Pakistan, Central Asia, and the Americas. He spent three years in Antarctica training expeditioners for Australia's National Antarctic Research Programme and in 2000 became the first Australian to lead a commercial expedition to the summit of Mt Everest. He has guided clients to the summits of multiple 8000-metre peaks including Everest, Cho Oyu, and Shishapangma.
His experience extends beyond mountaineering to include ocean sailing (RYA qualified Ocean Yachtmaster), crisis management, and emergency response work. In 2016, he was awarded an Australian Commendation for Bravery for saving three climbers' lives on Mt Everest, and received the Humanitarian Overseas Service Medal for his emergency response work following Nepal's 2015 earthquake.
Andrew's approach combines technical expertise with a focus on safety, team dynamics, and helping clients achieve goals they might not have thought possible.
